Why We’re Giving 13,000 Plants to Our Customers
British Land’s annual Plant Giveaway initiative has become one of the most anticipated customer events of the year. Spanning across all three of their London campuses – Broadgate, Paddington Central and Regent’s Place. The initiative gives out 13,000 plants, supporting greener, more vibrant workspaces.
What started as a one-off idea has grown into a campus tradition, a small but meaningful way we support everyday wellbeing at work and help create places people love to work.
See what our customers had to say in last year’s highlights video.
Designed around what matters
Bringing nature into the workplace isn’t just about aesthetics – it has measurable impact on how people feel and their productivity.
Research shows that office workers environments with natural elements such as greenery and sunlight report a 15% higher level of wellbeing, alongside a 6% boost in productivity and 15% greater creativity. (1)
Beyond the research, we’re seeing a broader shift in expectations. Green space now ranks among the top ten amenities UK office workers look for when applying for a job (2), while 39% of existing office occupiers already include nature-based solutions in their leases – with a further 35% planning to do so upon renewal. It’s something British Land have invested in across its portfolio. From one of London’s largest living walls at Regent’s Place spanning 3,700 sq ft with 22,000 plants to Broadgate’s 1.5-acre Exchange Square park, and Paddington Central’s woodland walkways and planted seating areas, nature is woven into the fabric of our places.

It’s all in the details
The Plant Giveaway is considered to the very last detail:
- The Plant Doctor: Located on our campuses throughout the initiative to provide expert tips and helpful guidance, we ensure every plant thrives in its new home.
- Novice-friendly plants: We’ve selected resilient species that double as natural air purifiers – making it easy for anyone to enjoy the benefits of a cleaner, greener desk.
- Peat-free & UK-sourced: Sustainability matters at every step. All 13,000 plants are grown in 100% peat-free soil and sourced from UK growers, minimising transport impact and helping protect vital carbon-absorbing peatlands.
- A seamless experience: Harnessing digital technologies like our My Campus apps, we ensure a seamless fusion between digital and in-person experiences.

Looking ahead
Across our places, we focus on shaping environments that go beyond functionality to create places that support wellbeing, encourage connection and enhance the everyday experience of work.
At British Land, we’re proud to grow alongside you. Sometimes, a more productive, creative workday starts with something as simple as a plant.
